fun weekend

This weekend was fun. Went to Nord Gardens to party with my lady friends, that was quite the eventful evening. I'm actually surprised I remember it all. I'm just hoping that what I remember actually happened as opposed to something completely different. Could you guys fill me in with the major happenings of the night? I want to make sure my memory isn't just screwin with me. The BBQ party last night was freakin awesome. A good number of people actually came this time (even Jessi and Kimmi... YAY). Seriously though, that was nice, I hope everyone liked their burgers. Too bad Kimmi and Jessi had to leave early, being tired and all. And Savannah just dissappeared into nowhere as far as I know. Anyway, good times.

On a seperate note, I might actually be living in J5 again with Jeff and Eric. That'll be cool, we just gotta figure out which appt we're living in and to get that crap worked out.

internet for the ladies

Well.... I hooked up some strapping young ladies with some internet tonight. Although it's under an sbc + D-link network, it seems to be working fine (although intermitantly) Hopefully it will level out soon. Otherwise, a trade in for linksys gear might become necessary. I'm still feeling bad that Jessi's car got bashed when she was visiting me here in J5. But at least her window's fixed now. I bought a ninja sword today. Along with a rack to hold it. It's pretty awesome. Was actually cheaper than I'd expected. I've seen swords just like it go for well over $150. I'm just good at finding things like this I guess. Anyhoo.... I suppose that's all I have to say. Oh yeah, the school needs to hire me for one of the computing jobs I applied for. Especially the one that's like $9 an hour. That'd be sweet. So for now, I will leave you with this.

ah.... first days of work, and I'm already looking forward to the weekend. of course.... waking up at 5 in the morning to go down to the RCD office is a grand experience. nothin like dragging brush and trees all over a mountain and then turning them into wood chips. it's fun fun fun for 8 hours a day.

Waiting is the hardest part. That's definitely true with my current employment status. The director at the RCD won't be available for a job interview until tuesday. I can't help but wonder if I'll get the job or not. I need the money, and the work I'll be doing won't be too bad. Just some roadside clearing to create fire breaks. Nothing I can't handle. I've done that kind of thing before. Gah... I hope I get the job.

It was nice to sleep in my own bed again. I'm back home for the summer and I'm feeling good. But golly, I'm going to be missing my friends from college. It's only been a day, and I'm already missing you all. But hey, it's only 3 or so months. We'll be seeing each other next semester when we all move into our respective appartments. Not much has changed around the house, it's still the woods as I left it. It's going to be wierd not without the city right around me for a while. I've gotten used to the hussle and bussle of Chico, and now I'm back in Shingletown, where the only sounds I hear at night are the weather, and the wildlife. I've missed it, I'm glad I'm back, but there's something about the city life that was nice too. It was cool being so close to my friends, and the nightlife was definitely more exciting than that of Shingletown. Regardless, it's not like I won't be back in Chico for another fun and exciting semester of college life. and then another one, and another one, and so on so forth. I'll keep up with people through AIM, MSN, and this here livejournal. Now I will go play video games for several hours.

one last night in Shasta Hall. Gosh, it'll be wierd not having to come back here next semester. I've made so many awesome friends, like Jessi, Kim, Adriane, Ryan, Troy, Savanaha, Mick, Zack, Eric, Russ, Gina, Sean, Josh, Brian, Aileen, and of course my sweetie, Alicia. Good times.... good times...

But yeah, I'm pretty much all packed up. This'll probably be my last post from the dorm room. Then it's off homeward tomorrow afternoon. It'll be really tough over the summer without all my friends from here. But at least we're all living relatively close to each other next semester so it won't be to hard to keep in touch. Plus we're all pretty much on AIM, so over the summer we can still chat.

Definitely some good times that were had in this dorm hall. I was almost sad to leave it, but after a day and a half of packing and moving crap around, I can't wait to get out of here. A break will do me good.

Tonight, on one of my frequent walks around campus and downtown, I met a man. At first, I viewed him as just another drifter in downtown asking for dimes. But when I gave him the change I got from buying a slushee at 7-11, he asked if I would sit and smoke a cigar with him as he told me his story. I couldn't refuse his simple request, so I joined him in a smoke and a chat. He was an art student at one time hee at Chico state. He told me about how he painted buffaloes, eagles, deer, and many other symbols common in Native American lore. He told the tale about how he had traveled all across the United States seeing the sights all on the change he could gather. We discussed religion, and culture as we sat. At least until the shopkeeper told us to leave.

Upon leaving the man, I was saddened that there are people in this country, that despite their education, and talent, are still unable to maintain a life above that of a drifter.

Well... I had a good weekend at home. It was nice to take the entire weekend off and not have to wake up early on sunday for work. But now it's back to the old drag. Two more weeks left until summer. Part of me wants to stay here in Chico with my friends, but I really need a nice, long break from this city. From what I hear, Alicia missed me a little over the weekend. Summer's gonna be a tough ride, I'm sure. But I'm just going to live in the moment, and make the most of the little time I have left in these dorm halls.

Once again I've found myself working tech support for my friends. It's not so bad. At least it's somewhat easy. I really don't understand why Kim's computer won't let go of bigFix's registry keys. It's a wierd world we live in.
